🎮 Today’s Blog: A Fun Yet Challenging Day with Blender & Unreal Engine 5

✍️ by Suraj Kagda

Hey devs and dreamers,

Today was one of those fun, exciting, and a little confusing days in my game dev learning journey. I spent my whole session bouncing between Blender and Unreal Engine 5, and here’s the thing — Blender actually felt easier today compared to UE5.

I started by modelling a basic environment — nothing
fancy, just some props and structures for practice. Blender’s interface is finally starting to make sense. I can move, scale, rotate, and even experiment with modifiers without constantly Googling. That’s a big win for me!

But then came Unreal Engine 5 — and wow, the complexity just spikes up. Importing assets, setting up collisions, lighting issues… it sometimes feels like I fix one thing and two new problems pop up. Don’t get me wrong — UE5 is incredibly powerful. But the learning curve can be steep, especially when you're new to materials, blueprints, and the overall workflow.

Still, despite a few frustrating moments, it was a super productive day. I know this is part of the journey, and honestly, I’m proud of sticking with it.

🎯 A Quick Shoutout to Game Devs & Studios

Honestly, the more I dive into game creation, the more respect I gain for game developers and studios. Whether it's small indie teams or massive companies like CD Projekt Red, Naughty Dog, Rockstar, FromSoftware, or Epic Games — their ability to bring entire worlds to life is mind-blowing.

Every frame, texture, animation, sound, and script takes passion, problem-solving, and serious skill. As a beginner, I now understand how much effort goes into just one scene — let alone a full game. Hats off to all devs out there who continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in this artform. You all inspire me.

💡 Takeaway:

Blender is great for creativity and modelling — it gives you instant feedback. But Unreal demands structure and precision. Both are amazing tools, and using them together is teaching me not just how to make games, but how to think like a developer.
